In short
- For two people with light luggage going to Lara, Kundu or the city, a metered taxi is usually the cheapest door-to-door option.
- From Kemer and Side onwards the meter costs about as much as a fixed-price private minivan, or more. Groups of five or more need two taxis, so beyond the city a private vehicle is cheaper for them on every route.
- Public buses and the tram are very cheap but only serve the city, not the resort coast.
- Package shuttles are included in many holidays but stop at several hotels, which can double the journey time.
The five ways to leave Antalya Airport
Antalya Airport (AYT) sits about 10 km east of the city centre, between the city and the resort coast. After passport control and baggage reclaim, most travellers choose one of five options:
- Metered taxi from the official rank outside arrivals.
- Public city bus to the centre, Lara, Konyaaltı or the bus station.
- AntRay tram from the airport stop into the city.
- Shared shuttle included in a package holiday, or booked separately.
- Private transfer: a vehicle and driver booked in advance only for your group.
What a taxi from Antalya Airport costs
Taxis in Antalya run on the meter. Local press reported the 2026 tariff for the central districts as a 40 TL starting fee plus 50 TL per kilometre. The table applies that tariff to typical road distances and compares it with our fixed price for a private minivan.
| From AYT to | Road km | Taxi meter (est.) | Private minivan, up to 6 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lara / Kundu hotels | 15 | 790 TL ≈ €14 | €35 |
| Kaleiçi old town | 17.5 | 920 TL ≈ €16 | €35 |
| Konyaaltı | 23 | 1,190 TL ≈ €21 | €40 |
| Belek | 37.5 | 1,920 TL ≈ €34 | €45 |
| Kemer centre | 57 | 2,890 TL ≈ €52 | €55 |
| Side | 67 | 3,390 TL ≈ €61 | €55 |
| Alanya centre | 127 | 6,390 TL ≈ €114 | €85 |
Taxi figures are estimates from the reported central tariff and a rate of about 56 TL to the euro; traffic, waiting and the exact tariff outside the city can change the final amount. Ask the driver or the rank for an estimate before you set off. Exchange rate as of October 2026.
When a taxi is the better choice
On the short routes, the meter wins on price. If you are a couple or a family of three with a suitcase each, staying in Lara, Kundu or the city, a taxi from the rank will usually cost less than any pre-booked transfer, and taxis wait outside arrivals at almost every hour.
A taxi is also the practical choice if you only decide on your plans after landing, or if your flight is so delayed that you would rather not keep anyone waiting.
When a private transfer is the better choice
The picture changes with distance and group size. To Belek a taxi is still a little cheaper for a couple; to Kemer it costs about the same as our fixed price, and to Side or Alanya clearly more. A private transfer has one fixed price for the whole vehicle, agreed before you travel.
- Groups of five or more: most taxis take up to four passengers, so a large family needs two cars. A minivan takes up to six, a minibus up to thirteen.
- Children: child and baby seats are rarely available in taxis. With a private transfer they are fitted before you arrive.
- Lots of luggage, golf bags or a pushchair: a minivan has room for all of it without squeezing.
- Late-night arrivals: provide your flight number and follow your booking's confirmed pickup instructions if the arrival time changes.
- Long routes to Side, Manavgat, Kemer or Alanya: a fixed price instead of a long meter run, and no need to explain your hotel in Turkish.
Public bus and AntRay tram
If you are travelling light and staying in the city, public transport is by far the cheapest way in. City bus lines link the airport with the centre, Lara, Konyaaltı and the main bus station, and the AntRay tram runs from the airport stop towards the city.
Pay attention to payment: the tram uses the AntalyaKart transport card, and buses accept the card or contactless bank cards at a higher fare. Neither serves the resort coast, so for Belek, Side, Kemer or Alanya you would need to change at the bus station to an intercity bus or minibus (dolmuş), which is slow with suitcases.
Package-holiday shuttle
If your holiday includes a transfer, it is usually a coach that collects guests for several hotels in the same area. It costs you nothing extra, but you wait until everyone from your flight has arrived, and the coach stops at every hotel on its list. To Side or Alanya this can easily add an hour or more.
Many travellers keep the included transfer for the return to the airport, when timing matters less, and book a private vehicle for the arrival day to start the holiday sooner.
