In short
- Plan to be at the terminal around three hours before an international flight in summer, two hours for domestic flights.
- There is a security check at the terminal entrance before check-in, then passport control and a second security check.
- Check-in desks for many charter and low-cost airlines open only about two to two and a half hours before departure, so queues build quickly.
- Liquids in hand luggage: containers of up to 100 ml in one clear resealable bag of about one litre.
How early should I be at Antalya Airport?
For international flights in the summer season, plan to be at the terminal about three hours before departure. For domestic flights, two hours is usually enough. In winter, when far fewer charter flights operate, two to two and a half hours is generally fine for international flights.
Travellers' experiences vary a lot. In 2025 forum reports, some passengers said they were through in well under an hour, while others reported around 45 minutes from the entrance queue to the last security check, plus another 45 minutes if they had to check in bags. The difference is almost always timing: arrive at the same moment as several full charter flights and you queue with all of them.
The order of checks at departures
- 1
Entrance security
Before you even reach check-in, all bags go through an X-ray scanner at the terminal entrance. At busy times the queue starts outside the doors.
- 2
Check-in or bag drop
Find your airline on the screens. Many holiday airlines open their desks only about two to two and a half hours before departure. Some UK passengers report needing a desk-issued boarding pass even without hold luggage, so check your airline's rules.
- 3
Passport control
Have your passport and boarding pass ready. Queues here are usually shorter than at check-in.
- 4
Second security check
Hand luggage is screened again. Liquids, laptops and large electronics may need to come out of your bag.
- 5
Gates and duty free
From the airside area it is usually only a few minutes' walk to the gates. Food, shops and the smoking terraces are here.
Hand luggage and the 100 ml liquid rule
Turkish airports apply the standard liquid rule: each container in your hand luggage may hold up to 100 ml, and all containers must fit in one clear, resealable bag of about one litre. The airport counts drinks, creams, lotions, oils, perfumes, sprays, gels, toothpaste, mascara and similar items as liquids.
Exceptions apply to medicines, dietary needs such as baby food, and duty-free liquids bought at the airport. There is no confirmed relaxation of the 100 ml rule at Antalya, so pack to the 100 ml limit even if your home airport allows more. Solid souvenirs such as Turkish delight and baklava are fine; liquid honey, olive oil or rakı belong in your checked bag.
When should my hotel pickup be?
Work backwards from the time you want to be at the terminal, then add the drive and a buffer for traffic. Summer Friday and Saturday evenings are the slowest: in one 2025 report a private transfer from Side to Terminal 2 took 1 hour 45 minutes on a Friday evening, far longer than the usual hour.
- Lara, Kundu and Antalya city: pickup about 3 hours 30 minutes before departure.
- Kadriye and Belek: about 3 hours 45 minutes before departure.
- Side, Kumköy, Çolaklı, Manavgat and Kemer: about 4 to 4 hours 15 minutes before departure.
- Okurcalar, Avsallar, Konaklı and Alanya: about 4 hours 30 minutes to 5 hours before departure.
These are rules of thumb for international summer flights. When you book a return transfer with us, the pickup time is confirmed for your exact hotel and flight. See all distances and drive times from Antalya Airport.
Fast track and VIP services
The airport operator sells CIP and lounge packages under the FTA Exclusive name. The higher tiers include a private entrance, privileged check-in and security clearance, while the Comfort tier is a lounge with buffet and an apron view. Prices and availability are on the airport's online reservation portal, and it is worth booking ahead in peak season.
Tax refund and lost property
If you bought goods tax-free in Türkiye, ask the shop for a tax refund cheque, have your purchases, cheque and passport stamped at the customs desk before you leave, then claim the refund at the Global Blue counter or partner refund point. Allow extra time for this step.
